FAQ
Common questions about giving.
First, you should give as much as the Spirit is calling you to give. God owns everything and we first and foremost want to depend on him for the money he already owns.
Second, a general principle we see in Scripture is to give the first 10% of your income. But it is not a "rule" you must follow.
Third, give joyfully, sacrificially, and regularly. For every person this will look different
Fourth, remember that giving is an act of worship. Sacrificing what you need and want puts you in a humble and dependent position before God (who owns everything). Putting your faith in God to take care of your needs by giving beyond your comfort level will increase your faith and give you front row seat to watching God do amazing things.
How much should I give?
Your money goes to "keep the lights on" at New City, but it also goes to serve the poor, fund missionaries, and change lives. All giving to New City Church is tax deductible.
Where does my money go?
First, we think its great that you are giving to so many good and well meaning organizations. But, it's also important to give first to the local church. The local church was God's idea, and he decided that it was the best way to not only serve his people spiritually but also the best way to saturate the cities they resided in. There are many wonderful and amazing Christian organizations that are worth supporting, but we'd encourage you not to neglect the institution that God created and determined would be the catalyst for his kingdom on this earth.
