What is the Gospel?

The word gospel simply means good news. It is the good news of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ.

Creation

You were created by God and for God.

God created the world good, and He created human beings to know Him, love Him, enjoy Him, and live under His good rule.

We were made in His image, with dignity, purpose, and a relationship with our Creator.

We were made for life with God.

The Fall

Humanity turned away from God’s rule and reign. Instead of trusting God and living according to His good design, we chose our own way.

The Bible calls this sin. Sin is more than making mistakes. It is our rebellion against God, and it has broken everything—our relationship with God, our relationships with one another, and even the world around us.

Scripture says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We cannot fix this problem ourselves.

Redemption

God did not leave us there. Because of His great love for us, God came to rescue us. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, entered our broken world. He lived the perfect life we have failed to live and willingly died on the cross for our sins. He took the judgment we deserved so that we could be forgiven and brought back to God.

Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead. His resurrection means that sin and death have been defeated and that Jesus truly is Lord. We don't earn this rescue by becoming better people or doing enough good things. Salvation is a gift of God's grace. Jesus invites us to turn from our sin and trust in Him.

Restoration

Jesus is making all things new.

Everyone who trusts in Jesus is given a new relationship with God, a new identity, a new family, and a new purpose. God begins restoring us now, changing us from the inside out through His Spirit.

And one day, Jesus will return. Sin, suffering, injustice, and death will finally be gone. God will fully restore His creation, and His people will live with Him forever.

That is the story of the gospel.

And you are invited into it.
